  • BHR NHS medication Prescribing Restrictions

In 2017 BHR (Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge & Havering) CCGs’ three governing bodies approved a set of recommendations, developed by GP clinical leads, related to the two ‘Spending NHS Money Wisely’ public consultations. A major strand of the work covers NHS prescribing – particularly some Over The Counter medications.
Although this mainly affects pharmacists, some of the changes will affect optometry referrals for medication which is no longer available on the NHS. Please see here for your information.

The three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge are about to introduce a prior approvals process for a number of procedures, including cataracts.
